Marco Rubio – Secretary of State – Confirmed In a voting landslide, former Senator Marco Rubio has been confirmed as our new Secretary of State. The count came in at 99-0. This confirmation is the first of Trump’s nominees to be finalized and was seen as the least controversial of the “senior” cabinet nominees.
Chris Wight – Secretary of Energy – Confirmed By a vote of 59-38, Wright becomes the Secretary of Energy in Trump’s cabinet. Senators Graham (R), Hyde Smith (R), and Fetterman (D) declined to vote in the confirmation hearing. Several Democrats joined the Republican majority in confirming.
In a bipartisan vote, the Senate has confirmed John Ratcliffe as the new director of the CIA. Final tally was 74-25, and includes twenty Democrats who favored his confirmation. Absent from the voting was Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman.
