Agenda Day – Feb 11, 2025

Kash Patel – FBI Director – Status

Okay, as you know, last week the Democrat members of the Senate pressed to delay the confirmation of Kash Patel as our new FBI director. They would have you believe that this delay is to allow them time for another round of questions aimed at determining Patel’s independence of Donald Trump direction with regards to investigation priorities.

However, here’s the real reason we’re having trouble moving past these rounds of senatorial questions (grandstanding) with Patel’s nomination. Democrats are incredibly frightened that the same lawfare they relentlessly employed against Donald Trump and his allies will now be turned against them.

And the truth is, there are plenty of folks who worked with or for the previous administration who are vulnerable to repercussions from their activities. Although Biden did pardon a significant amount of his family and key administrative figures, that still leaves a lot of people who were convinced to fall in line and abuse judicial authority.  They are now exposed.

Tulsi Gabbard – Director of National Intelligence – Soon

On a more positive note, the confirmation of Tulsi Gabbard did move one step closer to a final vote. On Monday, the committee cleared her nomination to become Director of National Intelligence for a vote on the full Senate floor.

It’s believed that the Gabbard vote could take place as early as Tuesday, February the 11th, but problematic winter weather is rolling into the nation’s capital this afternoon and it makes the timing a little bit more flexible.

As our readers will know, Gabbard is the focus of a lot of Democrat consternation because she has spoken openly in the past about her belief that Obama-era efforts to intensify spying on American citizens are both unnecessary and unconstitutional.

In fact, she has pointed out that the classified documents revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden were fundamental to revealing the overreach within our US security apparatus.

To combat her confirmation, Senate Democrats are positioning her as a Snowden sympathizer, even though she never suggested that his transgressions were warranted.

President Trump Remarks on Hamas

The president had a strong message for those who are aligned with Hamas in Gaza. While Hamas accuses Israel of violating their ceasefire agreement, they have threatened to stop the ongoing release of October 7th hostages.

In response to the accusations from Hamas, Trump said that he would respond decisively if the next batch of hostages were not released by the Saturday deadline. Trump did acknowledge that such a decision was Israel’s but declared that there would be “Hell to pay” if no release was forthcoming.

CFPB Leadership Pulls the Ripcord

Things are heating up at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and I have to say, as someone who loves a good shake-up in Washington, this is all very telling. Just the other day, two top leaders decided to resign right after acting Director Russell Vought made a bold move by telling everyone to halt their work.

Lorelei Salas, who’s been running the supervision side, and Eric Halperin, the enforcement guy, felt they couldn’t stick around under these conditions.

You know what? Good to hear!

DOGE has decided to look into operations and Halperin directly stated that he didn’t believe he could protect American consumers in the current climate. And that’s kind of why he was being pushed out anyway.

This is classic Washington, where some people just can’t handle the heat. Vought’s directive is a strong signal that we need to shake things up and refocus on the mission. This agency should prioritize serving the American people, not playing politics. It’s refreshing to see leadership willing to clear the swamp instead of maintaining the status quo.
